Professor Muhammad Khaleequzzaman has earned MS degree from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, USA. Having served banking sector in senior positions for 25 years, Professor Zaman is engaged currently with School of Islamic Banking and Finance in International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) where he holds Associate Professorship and where he has conducted various tasks including curriculum development and placement of academic and training programs in addition to teaching itself. He has been intensely involved in consultancy work for the Islamic banking and finance industry to conduct market researches/product development, capacity building and Shariah advisory. Development of Islamic microfinance facility is one area, Professor Zaman isĀ  particularly known for. He has worked on a variety of projects sponsored by national and multilateral organizations including Asian Development Bank, State Bank of Pakistan, World Bank, Government of Pakistan, USAID, Swiss Agency for Development & Cooperation (SDC), Int’l Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and others. At Islamic GDP, he provides strategic guidance to the CEO and also helps supervise the R&D team to ensure that our services are always aligned with best and current practices of the industry.

Dr Aziz possesses a wealth of academic and research experience from Pakistan, UAE and UK. Having received formal academic training in the field of Islamic economics, banking and finance from the International Islamic University (IIU) in Pakistan and a doctorate from Loughborough University in UK, he has had extensive consultancy and senior managerial industry experience (Dr Aziz has previously worked for a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank and BMB Islamic UK Ltd.). He possesses a unique ability to develop cutting edge Sharia solutions for financial institutions. He has pioneered several innovative Sharia financial engineering techniques, authored research articles, and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences. Dr Aziz has assumed a challenging lead role in introducing and launching the first ever dedicated Islamic platform to facilitate globally the distribution of third party Islamic financial products / services through a one-stop shop – Islamic GDP – through which he particularly aspires to promote themes relating to socially responsible and sustainable Islamic financial practices in line with the spirit and broader objectives of Sharia.

Ms Haliza Abd Rahim holds an LLB degree from the University of Nottingham and an Msc in Finance and Financial Law from the School of Oriental and African Studies. She is a solicitor with experience of working on Sharia compliant Islamic banking and finance transactions in multiple jurisdictions. She has worked on a number of path-breaking transactions in investment banking and capital markets including the first ever UCITS III umbrella (Dublin) and SICAV (Luxembourg) structures for Islamic funds, and innovative Sharia compliant derivative structures. She works closely with clients and the product development team and is responsible for the process of identifying Sharia concerns arising mainly from legal documentation and advises clients on transactions with the aim of ensuring their compliance with Sharia. She is also responsible for conducting client and products’ due diligence and Sharia examination to ensure that Islamic GDP continues to represent the highest quality and standards of practice.

 

Ayub Ghauri, Managing Director, Business Development

Mr. Ayub Ghauri has a degree in Management Information Systems from California State University in the US and possesses over 25 years of experience of serving globally in various roles and capacities including a number of senior positions with UK companies. During his career, he undertook diverse and challenging roles in financial consultancy, computer programming, media development and business marketing.  In 1991 he launched his own business in the UK and successfully ran it till 1997 while serving as its Managing Director. He is one of the Managing Directors of Islamic GDP looking after the business development function with a particular emphasis on South Asian markets. He is a key member of the senior management of Islamic GDP and brings with him vision, innovative ideas and excellent relationship skills. He plays a central role in forming and shaping strategic growth plan of the business. Ayub is also an active member of Senior Advisory Council at PBIT(Punjab Board of Investment and Trade). In his capacity, Ayub advises PBIT on Marketing matters and also supports them with his networking connections worldwide.

 

Musa Hassan Malik, Executive Manager

Musa Hassan Malik, Executive Manager

Mr Malik holds an MBA in Marketing/Finance from the Punjab College of Business Administration, Lahore, Pakistan and an MBA in International Business from the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand. He also holds a qualification in Islamic Finance Qualification issued by the Securities Investment Institute and is currently completing the ACCA. Mr Malik possesses a wealth of industry experience in banking and retail from Pakistan and UK, having previously worked for Barclays Bank and the Islamic Bank of Britain and has extensive managerial experience. At Islamic GDP, Mr Malik is responsible for managing the day to day running of the office and is responsible for executing the company’s strategic, and short and medium term business plan and is responsible for broad managerial accounting, budgeting and cost control of the business.
